The Office of Research Opportunities

The Sanford School’s Office of Research Opportunities supports faculty and staff secure funding for research, teaching and service.  Each week, we create Research Opportunities announcements tailored to the topic areas of our faculty.  The director of the office, Joseph McNicholas, is available to:

    1. Help find funding and research grant opportunities from federal and non-federal funding sources for Sanford faculty.
    2. Consult and assist individual investigators on grant preparation by reviewing and discussing the guidelines and creating winning strategies.
    3. Provide feedback and editing on grant narratives and submission materials.
    4. Coordinate faculty, grant managers and other support to prepare and submit proposals for funding.
    5. Facilitate cooperation with the Campus Grants Management Team in accordance with service partnership agreement for pre-award activities and post-award activities.
    6. Assist with inception and development of program ideas.
    7. Organize, facilitate, manage the development of new proposals and initiatives.
    8. Help submit complex research proposals, including collaborations within Duke University, partnerships outside Duke, and international projects.
